Focus
DOF is important to draw the eye to an area of the image
Line
Line is used to move the eye around the image.
Negative Space
Using negative space makes the one important object in the image stand out
Scale
Scale can be used to make lots of objects look small or a few objects look big

pattern is used to show of repartition in an object or scene
Colour/tone
Adding color to an image can add interest.

shape can be used to move the eye through the image

texture is used to bring a person into an image and make them feel like then can just reach into the image and feel it

perspective is used to show an scene in a different angle to where you would normally view it from
Contrast
contrast highlights areas of an image to move the eye to where you want the viewer to look

layers add dimension to an image and draw the viewers eyes from the foreground element to the back of the image
